Dear Colleagues
This year has undoubtedly been the most challenging, difficult, scary and testing time that I can ever remember experiencing within my time with the London Ambulance Service Trust.
I would first of all like to send out my personal thanks to each and every member of staff. Without your continuing dedication, support and commitment our patients would not have received the excellent care that has been provided to them by yourselves, especially during this pandemic. Whilst I appreciate we are currently at REAP level 4, you continue to show resilience which the GMB LAS Union Branch recognise and would like to say a big thank you to each and every one of you.
We are still battling this virus, and it is evident that it taking no prisoners. With determination and the strength that you have displayed throughout this year, I have no doubt that we will win and come out of this fight wiser and stronger not only as a union but also as a Trust.
GMB LAS union’s priority remains steadfast in that our staff’s health, safety and wellbeing are at the heart of everything we do. I would like to thank all the members that have emailed us or made contact and raised their concerns. GMB LAS union will not waver in asking the difficult questions to ensure that our members are protected at work no matter what department or role you are in, and in turn their families and our patients.
We, the GMB, have challenged, and will continue to challenge, this Government and the Trust. To make sure that you, our members, get the correct protection and support necessary to be able to do your job, no matter what it takes. I have, and will, continue to deliver on this promise to you all that we, GMB LAS, prioritise the health, safety and wellbeing of our members, our patients and our families and friend’s.
GMB LAS union believes you are the true heroes in this fight, working on the front line in ever-changing, uncontrolled environments that we find ourselves in on a daily basis. Can I please ask that we continue to support and look out for each other and take this time to remember our dear colleagues that have paid the ultimate price.
Next year is facing its own new set of challenges, but by continuing to stand together and strong, we will overcome these.
On behalf of the GMB LAS Union Branch we would like to wish you, and your families, a merry Christmas and a prosperous, healthier New Year.
Kind regards
GMB LAS Union Branch
